The newest single from unique indie duo beachtown is the alluring ‘Toybox’. The single is a melting pot of influences from different genres, ranging from the overarching breakbeat accompaniments and a punky guitar-centric skeleton, to big alt-pop melodies and subtle bossa-nova undertones. They explain: “The song is about wanting to keep things the way they are and resisting change. It was a metamorphosis of sorts stylistically which was very liberating and in keeping with the message of the song.” The pair have made waves since forming in 2019, and will continue to do so over the course of 2023. -Dan Peeke.
